Fewer than 10 percent of commercial real estate professionals are CCIMs, or Commercial Certified Investment Members, and that 10 percent averages 42 percent more transactions annually than typical brokerage specialists.

To earn this designation Erin Freel, CCIM, had to complete more than 160 hours of case-study-driven education that covered topics such as interest-base negotiation, financial analysis, market analysis, user decision analysis, investment analysis, and ethics in commercial investment real estate. She also had to compile a portfolio of three or more qualifying transactions totaling $30 million or more and pass a six-hour comprehensive exam.

Erin grew up on a south Marion County farm, winning the lottery early on with two loving parents and a brother and sister who were automatically her best friends. Early on she knew she had the entrepreneurial spirit, having several small businesses throughout high school and raising animals to sell. While one dream childhood dream was to own a minor-league baseball team (she spent a college summer working for the Detroit Tigers) and yet another was to own the Weirsdale Opry, she found a passion in marketing after she earned her degree in Agricultural Communications from the University of Florida.  After working as Director of Marketing for the Florida Strawberry Growers Association right out of college, she started her own marketing company, specializing in video production and web design. She served dozens of ag trade associations and corporations in the Southeast and notes that a key to her real estate success is because of her inherent marketing mojo.

Her passion for business continued as she sold her marketing company and ventured into real estate, first working in farms and land sales, along with residential. Within two years she earned her Broker Associate license and turned her sights on commercial. After having the “deal of a lifetime”, essentially with her first commercial transaction she was hooked and seemed to be suited to working with commercial sellers and buyers. Her husband, Nicolas Blaser, is the Market President for Cogent Bank in North Central Florida and while they love playing triathlon together in their free time, they also love talking shop. Nick’s 30 years of commercial banking experience is an invaluable resource for Erin and they love that their professional and personal worlds collide in the not-so-sleepy 4th fastest growing Metro of Ocala, Florida.

Knowing she hadn’t earned her stripes in commercial real estate, she set off to gain the credibility and knowledge that a commercial broker should have, by obtaining her CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation. She also had to compile a portfolio of three or more qualifying transactions totaling $30 million or more and pass a six-hour comprehensive exam. Fewer than 10 percent of commercial real estate professionals are CCIMs, and that 10 percent averages 42 percent more transactions annually than typical brokerage specialists.  Erin also completed more than 160 hours of case-study-driven education that covered topics such as interest-based negotiation, financial analysis, market analysis, user decision analysis, investment analysis, and ethics in commercial investment real estate.

Erin will tell you she LOVES her job!  She loves working at Boyd Real Estate and with her team including her long-time friend and colleague, Joel Bockoras whom she’s known since she was 8 showing pigs in 4-H, and now working together for 20 years professionally. And, the incomparable Joe Krim, Broker at Boyd Real Estate who is her commercial mentor.

Her motto is to HELP WHEN YOU CAN, that goes for family, community, and especially clients.  Just because it’s not in the “job description” doesn’t mean it’s not her job. If she’s capable and it makes the situation better, she’ll dive in.  She loves to exceed expectations.
